Urbacer, lorsque la céramique se décline en mobilier urbain
Treize prototypes du projet Urbacer (pour Urban Ceramic) ont été exposés, début septembre à Limoges, puis fin octobre au Palais Royal à Paris et enfin mi-novembre au salon de la construction Batimat, également à Paris.
Sous l’égide du CRAFT (Centre de recherche sur les arts du feu et de la terre), de la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Limoges de la Haute-Vienne et du PEC (Pôle européen de la céramique) ainsi que de dix partenaires – designers et industriels de la céramique – ce programme Urbacer avait vu le jour suite à l’appel à projet Innovation Création Design, édition 2008, lancé par la DGCIS (Direction générale de la compétitivité de lʼindustrie et des services).
Urbacer rassemble des designers, des industriels de la céramique et du traitement de surface qui se sont ainsi retrouvés sur la thématique du mobilier urbain. Après deux années de recherche, de création, de réalisation, les prototypes d’assises, jardinières, potelets, luminaires, signalétique et claustras ont vu le jour.
Intégration de la céramique aux côtés d’autres matériaux
La valorisation du matériau céramique dans un univers totalement étranger aux arts de la table a représenté un véritable leitmotiv pour les industriels de la céramique à la recherche de diversification. Les cabinets de design impliqués tels que Formare Design, Marc Aurel, Paradigme Design ou encore Axiatec et les industriels concernés tels que les Porcelaines Merigous Limoges, Porcelaine Pierre Arquié, Porcelaine Raynaud ou encore Cerinnov, Emaux Soyer, TCPP ont donc travaillé ensemble et ont mis leur savoir-faire au service de cette approche innovante.
Le Pôle européen de la céramique, en labellisant ce projet, a, quant à lui, mis en exergue son aspect innovant, la qualité du partenariat et les perspectives offertes en terme de retombées économiques. Le PEC s’est ainsi impliqué dans le montage du projet qui soutien lʼaxe stratégique “céramiques décoratives et sensorielles” et qui répond à une volonté dʼouverture de nouveaux marchés auprès des membres spécialisés dans les arts de la table, la quincaillerie, les pièces décoratives et le traitement de surface.
Participation des industriels de la céramique et du revêtement de surface
Porcelaines Merigous Limoges a réalisé des pièces en porcelaine, Porcelaine Pierre Arquié des pièces en céramique silico-alumineuse, Raynaud a procédé à lʼassemblage et au collage de multimatériaux pour appréhender une diversification vers le mobilier et lʼarchitecture urbaine.
